
Naoko Takeuchi
Born March 15, 1967 to Kenji and Ikuko Takeuchi. She has younger brother named Shingo. As a young girl attending Kofu Ichi High she was part of the manga club and would wear sailor suits, this later highly influenced her work on Sailor Moon. While in high school she wanted to be a manga artist, but went on to get a degree in chemistry from Kyoritsu University of Pharmacy, in case she didnt make as a manga artist. While in attending college, Takeuchi did Miko work at Shiba Daijingu located not far from the university. This experience later became the ground work for one of her characters in Sailor Moon, Rei Hino. She married to Yoshihiro Togashi in 1999 and in 2001 their son was born.
At the age of 19, she began working for Kodansha where she published Love Call, which received an award. Her first serial comic was Maria, it was based on Daddy-Long-Legs and her friend Marie Koizumi. Takeuchi made another serial named The Cherry Project which was about skating. After the completion of that serial, she wanted to a manga with girl fighters in outer space. Takeuchi began working on Sailor V, but before it was turned into an anime, she did some adjustments and the hit Sailor Moon was born. The magazine Sailor V had been running in was cancelled, so the manga was never able to become an anime series. Takeuchi worked on another series, PQ Angels, but the series was cancelled when seven pages of manuscipt were lost and Takeuchi left Kodansha.
Takeuchi started her own company, Princess Naoko Planning (PNP) to manage her properties for mainly Sailor Moon. Alongside her husband, she began working on Toki*Meca. In 1998, Takeuchi published the book Sailor Moon Infinity Collection Art Book with limited releases. Before Sailor Mon's licance expired, Kodansha made an agreement with Takeuchi abd she returned and made a Materials Collection. After her return, she made the serialized manga Love Witch, which was cancelled for unknown reasons.
Takeuchi, with the help of Bandai, established a Sailor Moon official website. Takeuchi was greatly involved in the live-action series of Sailor Moon, PGSM. After PGSM was finished, she reutrned to working on Toki*Meca. She worked more closely with managing PNP and gave talks to college students. Takeuchi also wrote a children's book titled Oboo-nu- to Chiboo-nu- as a birthday present to her son, her husband illustrated the book. She still works on the website updating about once a month.
